TRUSTEES

The Stained Glass Museum is governed by a Board of Trustees, who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the Museum. The Stained Glass Museum is registered with the Charity Commission and holds Full Accredited status with the Arts Council.

Dr Jeffrey West (Chairman) is a historic buildings and artefacts specialist with wide managerial and professional experience within the ecclesiastical heritage sector. He gained his PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art and is a specialist in medieval art and architecture. For many years he was Senior Advisor on the Statutory Advisory Committee on Closed and Closing Churches, and before that was Secretary on the Advisory Board for Redundant Churches. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.

Sarah Brown (Secretary) is a Senior Lecturer at the University of York specialising in stained glass, its history and conservation. She joined the History of Art Department in 2008 having previously worked for the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England and English Heritage. Sarah is also Director and Chief Executive of the York Glaziers Trust, a conservation studio responsible for the care of the stained glass of York Minster. Sarah is also Chairman of the British committee of the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (CVMA).

Malcolm Leith (Treasurer) is management consultant who has work in many private sector businesses and government organisations in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He specalises in organisational change and managing large complex business and IT programmes. He is a former trustee and treasurer of the Glaziers Foundation and Trust, the charitable arms of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers, London. Since 2008, using his management consulting experience and skills, Malcolm has focussed on providing pro bono business and management advice to charities in East Anglia and London.

Anna Eavis began her career at the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England. She is currently Curatorial Director of English Heritage, and in this role she is in charge of the research, conservation, interpretation, publishing and education resources of English Heritage designated sites and properties. Anna is also a member of the British committee of the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (CVMA).

Prof. Jean-Michel Massing is a Professor in History of Art and a Fellow of King’s College, Cambridge. He has published widely on numerous topics including Late Medieval and Early Modern European art, iconography, European/Non-European influences, travel imagery, and African art. He has been a major contributor to large exhibitions, such as Circa 1492: Art in the Age of Exploration, held at the National Gallery of Art in Washington in 1991-1992, and Encompassing the Globe: Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th centuries, held in Washington (2007), in Brussels (2008) and in Lisbon ( 2009).

David Way read law at Cambridge and qualified as a solicitor in the City. He has worked as a lawyer ever since, spending a few years with a major Accounting firm, but then in law firms. He specialises in the area of taxation/ trusts/ related areas including charities. He is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners ( STEP) including its Philanthropy group, and the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law. He is a trustee of a number of private trusts and several charities. David also has a keen interest in art and ecclesiastical heritage.
