The Stained Glass Museum is governed by a Board of specialist Trustees, who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the Museum. The Stained Glass Museum is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) (Charity No. 1169842) and holds Full Accredited status with the Arts Council (574).

Jeffrey West

Dr Jeffrey West (Chairman) is a historic buildings and artefacts specialist with wide managerial and professional experience within the ecclesiastical heritage sector. He gained his PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art and is a specialist in medieval art and architecture. For many years he was Senior Advisor on the Statutory Advisory Committee on Closed and Closing Churches, and before that was Secretary on the Advisory Board for Redundant Churches. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.

Loyd de Beer

Dr Loyd de Beer is Curator of Medieval Britain and Europe at The British Museum. Lloyd gained his PhD from the UEA and is interested in the early collecting history of medieval antiquities. His most recent publications (including those forthcoming) are focused on reliquaries, seal matrices, alabaster sculpture, pilgrim’s badges and metalwork. Lloyd is also Honorary Director of the British Archaeological Association.

Sarah Brown

Prof. Sarah Brown (Secretary) is a Professor at the University of York specialising in stained glass, its history and conservation. She joined the History of Art Department in 2008 having previously worked for the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England and English Heritage. Sarah is also Director and Chief Executive of the York Glaziers Trust, a conservation studio responsible for the care of the stained glass of York Minster. Sarah is also Chairman of the British committee of the Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi (CVMA).

Lara Clements

Lara Clements is Head of Audiences and Evaluation at the Wellcome Trust. Lara has a wealth of experience as a strategic communications leader with experience in developing, funding and delivering communications which engage diverse audiences within the health, science and environment sectors. Lara has worked with a wide range of charities, from the very large, the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation, to the smaller Bat Conservation Trust.

Mark Hosea

Mark Hosea is currently employed to ensure not only the long term sustainability and conservation of the fabric of Canterbury Cathedral, but importantly ensure that the building, its collections, staff and volunteers are there to be used and enjoyed by all; be they worshipers, pilgrims, tourists, visitors, academics or other users of any faith or none. It is from this that Mark takes most pleasure; ensuring that people learn about and are engaged by all the delights associated with the Cathedral. Mark is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Planning and Development) with a Masters in Urban Regeneration.

Malcolm Leith

Malcolm Leith (Treasurer) is management consultant who has work in many private sector businesses and government organisations in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He specalises in organisational change and managing large complex business and IT programmes. He is a former trustee and treasurer of the Glaziers Foundation and Trust, the charitable arms of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers, London. Since 2008, using his management consulting experience and skills, Malcolm has focussed on providing pro bono business and management advice to charities in East Anglia and London.

Adrian Murphy

Adrian Murphy is Europeana Collections Manager for the Europeana Foundation in the Netherlands, where he works in partnership with cultural heritage institutions and consortia to engage audiences across Europe with digitised cultural heritage collections. He is an experienced digital communications and marketing professional. Prior to his role at Europeana, he was the Digital Manager at south London's Horniman Museum and Gardens where he led on digital strategy, website and social media activities.

Suzanne Phillips Galloway

Suzanne Phillips Galloway has a background in ethics and compliance for a number of professional bodies including lawyers, architects, chartered surveyors and healthcare providers. She has specialised in project management, and organisational transformation. She has served as Master of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers & Painters of Glass and as a trustee of its charity, The Glaziers’ Foundation. She is also a member of The Georgian Group and is undertaking postgraduate research at the University of Buckingham (History of Art).

Llewela Selfridge

Llewela Selfridge is an experienced Museum practitioner having worked in Museums for over thirty years. She works as a freelance consultant having previously been Executive Producer for Learning at the Imperial War Museums in charge of the national schools and family programmes. She specialises in developing, designing and delivering sector leading diverse, ambitious and creative programming for a variety of audiences and communities. Llewela has travelled widely and worked in Australia, Canada and Japan.

Michael Sheppard

Michael Sheppard is Deputy Director (Developments & Projects) for the Cathedral’s Workshop Fellowship. He is a Construction Director with two decades of experience in historic architectural conservation, restoration and project management. Previous roles include Director of Works and Property at Lincoln Cathedral. Michael is an ICON Accredited Conservator and a Heritage Advisory Panel Member for The Chartered Institute of building (CIOB).
